Transcript:

I am Valliamma, My job is to cultivate Pearl Millet, cook kali and Koozh, and our daily routine is working on the fields, going to forests, ploughing and taking care of cows. Pearl Millet was one of our primary food resources which we used to make Koozh, and a lot of men and women like me were largely relying on this koozh those days. we usually wake up in the early morning and drink the Koozh and go to work in the fields. These days we are also eating rice, which was inaccessible for us in those days because of the capital and water supply. But we are eating rice at least for a meal, but I prefer having millets like pearl and finger millet because only after began to eat rice every day, we started developing health issues, we never went to hospitals when we had millets for the whole day.

Transcript:

Basically, we cultivate Finger Millet in the month of Aani, Finger millet does not require a huge amount of water supply, so we cultivate this when there is a shortage of water supply in the village. We sell the cultivated millets in our village itself, but sometimes we also sell it at the market which is quite rare. We usually cultivate Pearl Millet in the month of Vaikasi. These two millet are our primary food resources in the past few years since we do not have access to rice. Rice always requires a huge amount of water supply, since we had considerably less rainfall in the past few resources we were unable to cultivate paddy and relied highly on these two millets out of which we make kali, an edible everyday meal for us.
